This Week's Events

What to Expect

worship

Our regular Saturday service begins at 10 AM. It is an interactive event filled with praise, worship, singing, dancing, and much soul searcing... all through particular Jewish expressions. The service is quite unlike any you may have attended. Be prepared for an inspiring, spirit-filled morning rooted in traditional Jewish ceremony, as well as contemporary Messianic worship. Traditional Jewish holidays are also observed with their own special services.

First Half of Service

dance

The first hour of worship combines traditional liturgy, sometimes with a choir, with modern Messianic worship music. A siddur (prayerbook) is used but also all the songs and prayers are displayed on a large screen. For the modern worship component, Israeli-style dancing is incorporated, and members of the congregation are encouraged to participate.

Second Half of Service

torah

The second half of the service (about an hour) is more like the liturgical worship practiced in traditional synagogues. Scripture portions are read from the Torah Scroll in Hebrew and in English. Passages from the New Covenant are read as well. Traditional Jewish prayers and blessings are made, and the Torah Scroll is carried among the congregation in a simple procession. Then there is a word-inspired teaching, followed by the Aaronic benediction. Finally, there is an invitation given to all who need prayer or ministry to come forward.

Oneg

As the main service ends, the congregation convenes downstairs for Oneg... a buffet-style lunch in celebration of the Sabbath. This also affords our congregation members, as well as new-comers, a time to fellowship.
