The Hebrew preparation for children planning towards their Bar/Bat Mitzvah
has changed. Please note that this covers the Hebrew preparation of the
candidate only. Other requirements are as follows:
- A personal relationship with HaShem through Messiah Yeshua, evident
in the candidate's life
- Special service by the candidate for his/her family
- Special service by the candidate for his/her congregation
- Special service by the candidate for his/her community
No less than 3 semesters of Hebrew training in preparation
will be required as follows*:

Hebrew preparation will
commence:

Jan - June 2008

July - Dec 2008

February 2007

For example, if your Bar Mitzvah is planned for October 2008,
you need to start Hebrew classes in February 2007.

The program
will tentatively follow the school calendar and the following course
(during the vacations there be no Hebrew classes; however, reading practice
on a daily basis at home is encouraged):

* This phase may be optional if the candidate is
able to read Hebrew at a level acceptable to the Hebrew Department
personnel.
Registration Fee per semester (covers supplies
& book): $20

book has already been used to teach over 125,000 North American

Alefbet, vowels; how to read Hebrew, reading prayers

Registration Fee per semester (covers supplies):
$10
- Confirm date and parasha (portion) with
rabbi
- Read through parashot completely in English
and Hebrew if time allows (how long this takes depends on
how many students are in the class, and how much vacation
practice has been done)
- Discussion on parashot, explanations (ditto
above in parentheses)
- Choose portion of parasha that will be read
at Bar/Bat Mitzvah
- Start learning Torah and other blessings,
relevant prayers, trop

Registration Fee per semester (covers supplies):
$10
- Practice chanting portion of parasha daily
- Practice blessings
- Start to prepare drash
- Three months before date of Bar/Bat Mitzvah, start to
meet individually for one-on-one practice weekly with a
tutor (depends on availability of tutor) - perhaps during
message on Saturdays
