The Psalmist declares, “The Lord inhabits the praises of His people.” Worship is to honor and experience God. Tikvat Israel offers a wide variety of worship experiences. Our Shabbat services combine the traditional liturgy of the synagogue service with modern Messianic Jewish melodies. We utilize a collection of prayer leaders who cant the traditional prayers with vibrant groups of modern worship teams. The service progresses like a child on a swing, beginning slowly with traditional prayer to upbeat, hand-clapping Israeli style music to once again a slower, worshipful style of modern Messianic Jewish contemplative music.
The culmination of the worship experience is when the Torahs are processed about the congregation as worshipers turn in respect to God’s Word and reach out and touch the ancient texts with tzit-tzit from their tallitot (prayer shawls) or siddurim (prayer books). In some respects, the movement of the scrolls about the congregation reminds us of the New Testament text that describes Yeshua as the “word made flesh.” As the scrolls progress around the congregation, it’s as if Yeshua Himself is walking among the people.
In addition, the Tikvat worship team, known as Shiloh, is available for outside community activities. Call our office at 804-355-5709 or through email at stacycowen@comcast.net for more information.
