Shabbat Shuva

Parsha: Ha’azinu - Deuteronomy 32:1-52

Haftorah: Hosea 14:2-10

Brit Chadashah: Matthew 19:17 and John 14:21

  1. The synagogue roof needs replacing.  If anyone would like to give a special gift for this, we would be most grateful.
  2. Beginner’s dance practice with Randyl Kirkland today at 8:30 am. Dance practice for use in services with Irene Clark at 9:00 am. Both are in the small sanctuary.
  3. There will be two rehearsal times to choose from for children who wish to participate in the children's dance for Sukkot:
    • 9:30 am before service or 12:30 - 1:00 pm during Oneg.
    • Please see Susan Dunn for details or call her at 381-1602.
  4. The Days of Awe prayer continues throughout the week.  See the prayer schedule in the foyer.
  5. The Kol Nidre (Yom Kippur) service is on Friday, Oct. 7, at 7:00 pm.  Fasting begins at sundown.  Yom Kippur service is on Sat., Oct. 8 at 10:00 am. Jonah study is to follow the service at 12:30 pm.  Prayer walks are at 3:30 pm and the closing service is at 5:00 pm.  Anyone with a shofar wishing to join in with shofar blasts at the end may do so. Break the Fast meal and Lord’s Supper occur after evening service, please bring a feast to share! Shofar contests for the children will be after the meal.
  6. Sukkah Construction!  Monday, Oct. 10, 9:00 am till 12:00 pm, please contact Robert Ramos if you can help.
  7. Sukkah dedication/decoration on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 5:30 pm followed by dinner and movie.  See youth for tickets.
  8. Feast of Tabernacles celebration with Dan and Melissa David, Tikvat Worship team and dancers – Sat., Oct. 15, at 7:00 PM.
  9. New Members’ class begins Sun., Oct. 23, 6 PM, for 5 weeks. Dinner included.  If you’d like to attend, contact the office at 355-5709 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
  10. Want to participate in a Torah service? Sign up in the foyer.
  11. Weekly Ministries:
    • Healing rooms **CLOSED during Days of Awe**

  14. We are putting together a Yahrzeit calendar.  Please submit anniversary dates of the passing of your loved one to the office at 355-5709 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) so that we may remember them in our services.
  15. To prepare for the high holidays and the various customs involved, we encourage you to read the relevant sections in Blu Greenberg's book How to Run a Traditional Jewish Household. Also, you will find lots of helpful information on YouTube and Wikipedia if you type in the festival names or customs (e.g. Sukkot, Lulav, Etrog, etc.).  
  16. The Lulav & Etrog order form is in the foyer.  Please place your order no later than tomorrow, October 2nd, in order to receive them by October 7th.  See Linda Arencebia for more details.
  17. We are going to print a new congregational directory for 5772.  Please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with any change/addition/removal requests for the directory no later than October 28, 2011.  If you do not have access to email, please fill out an Admin Request Form and deposit it in the box labeled Admin Requests (both are in the Blvd. foyer).
