Why Hineni?
At Tikvat Israel we seek to be a community where people regularly ask the question, "What can I give?" rather than "What can I get?" This countercultural way of thinking reflects the mindset of our Messiah who said, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve" (Mark 10:45) and "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35).
The God of Israel has called us not to live lives of solitude but to build a synagogue together that shines the light of God to the world around us. Every member of Tikvat has a crucial role to play in this regard and all of us have God-given gifts to contribute. As the Shaliach (Apostle) Peter said:
"Hineni" is a Hebrew word that means "Here I am!" If you would like to say "Hineni" and volunteer to help our synagogue, call our office today (804-355-5709) and tell us what skills you have, or ask how you can help and we will find a place for you to serve.
Yeshua told us that there is a special blessing for those who generously give of their resources to others. He said, "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap" (Luke 6:38). May you experience this joy of giving in your own life.
