Sukkot
Feast of Tabernacles
Sukkot, also known as the Feast of Tabernacles, is one of the appointed festivals Adonai instituted for Israel shortly after the exodus from Egypt. Leviticus 23:40 says this about the observance,
“On the first day you shall take the fruit of majestic trees, branches of palm trees, boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days.” (NRSV)
These four species are called the Arbat HaMinim in Hebrew ארבעת המינים.
